Anyone's cat gone off Katkin?

Literally overnight. On hunger strike! Only going for dry food. I'm wondering if they've changed the recipe?

My cat has only ever had dried food. . I sometimes boil him fish or chicken .
Plenty of water and dry food only is fine .( My vet said better for them).

Cats are fussy , I expect yours is as well !
Our cat is on Katkin and we have to mix Chicken & Turkey for them to eat it .

That's all well and good but I've got a fuck load in the freezer 😂

Oh I might try that. It's just they loved them all to start so I'm confused what's changed. I guess they're like kids, like it one day, hate the next

They sell it in home bargains. I just put a little bit onto any food the cat has gone off. Also handy for giving tablets in if ever needed.

Despite being an ex stray kitten who will happily swipe unwanted food from the green kitchen waste bin, our boy categorically refused Katkin. I ended up giving it away on a local Facebook group.

This seems to be really common with a lot of these fresh/frozen foods. It's the same with the dog equivalents too.

PieonaBarm · 21/11/2024 08:56

My dog used to periodically go off whatever food he was on at the time. I used to think that if I was fed the exact same thing everyday for months I'd probably go off it too. Only became a problem when he developed an allergy to pretty much every common ingredient in dog food. I just used to change his food periodically when he did it and learned not to buy too much in advance!

My DCats initially loved Katkin and then went off it - this is common for them though and I have to use a variety. Current wetfood favourites are 'meowing cats' and 'gourmet cat pate'. However, Katkin freeze dried chicken chunks and flakes are still loved - in fact have to be kept behind a locked door as boycat has been known to carry the box and hide with it somehere untill he gets the lid off!

Ours now flatly refuses Katkin and has gone back to Whiskas and Doubly Delicious. Like a previous poster, we have a freezer drawer full of the stuff. Our neighbours are hesitant to take it in case their cats get to like it and start being (even more) demanding.

FlatShoesOnly · 21/11/2024 09:42

Yes, he loved it for the first 2 deliveries and then went off it the minute another month’s worth of food turned up (because this is what cats do of course). Mind you, other than the probably wasted expense, I don’t mind as the new packaging is a pain to store as it won’t stack. I’ve moved to Untamed which he adores - though not all their recipes are complete.

Ours won't touch it. an expensive mistake. We also have a freezer full.
