Water Fountain

Our cat is currently very poorly having had urinary retention that deteriorated very quickly into clinical shock. I'm sat waiting for more news from the vet (he's over the worst apparently).
So i'm looking at cat water fountains just so i feel like i'm doing something vaguely useful.
any recommendations?
has any bought one and their cat treat it with absolute disdain?
i'd like one that is low noise and preferably mains operated.

hopefully pic of the little munchkin attached for cat tax purposes

Bought for the black cat (urinary problems). Grey cat uses it all the time, black cat occassionally.
Very good fountain though.

We have a water fountain for our boy and he loves it! It did scare him at first because it squirted water up his nose but he eventually got over that 🙂

Following with interest as I bought one for our previous cat who had the same issues & it was barely used. We've just adopted 2 new boys who I was told used a fountain in their previous home and I'm debating over whether I really need to buy another one for them or try and get them to suck it up & use a bowl!

Hope your boy is on the mend - it's was so upsetting when it happened to us but he was right as rain after a few weeks.

Ours have the Catit pixie , one is mains the other is rechargeable. Ours won’t drink from anything else now . Don’t get the stainless steel one as it’s really noisy , the plastic ones are quiet and easy to clean .

My late girls loved their fountain. I've never seen Penelope touch the last one I had. I liked my first cheap one from
Amazon. Then replaced it with a catit pixie which I hated!

I have that same one. Our boy loves it and drinks from it noisily several times a day. He mostly eats dry food so I am glad that he uses it so much. One of our girls drinks from it sometimes and the other one disdains it.

Yes it took my boy a few weeks to figure out how to use it in a way that he didn't end up soaked!

Where did you buy your water fountain from @Floralnomad?

Floralnomad · 19/11/2024 01:09

@ExitPursuedByAGummyBear we got ours from Amazon .

The Petsafe 360 is very popular in this house. The steel feels really clean and it's mains operated. I take it apart and wash it every month.
I have to top it up with a litre of water every day so the cats seem to be drinking loads now

I had a fountain once and my cat completely ignored it. His favourite watering spot is a Victorian trough outside which fills up with rainwater (and which I regularly scrub clean).
