Cat poo smell

Hello, My cat is currently recovering from an operation which involves a lot of pooping outside the litter tray. He's in a crate in the living room and although we're keeping on top of the mess it absolutely stinks.

Once he's better I'm worried the smell will linger.

I've searched air filters but the choice is overwhelming. Does anyone have any personal recommendations that they know work for this kind of thing?

I don't want to spend a fortune but for something that really works I may be prepared to spend up to 200 pounds total...

Thanks

Sorry to hear your overlord is recovering from surgery.

I found over the years nothing really worked except cleaning straight away and having the place well ventilated. Which can be tricky if you have a Houdini.

We have an air purifier and used air filters and honestly the above worked just as well it just takes a bit of time.

I hope the recovery is swift.

You may have tried it already but this stuff is really good for messes on carpets/upholstery.

Cat poo smell

Cats Best clumping cat litter is the best cat litter if you can manage to get him in the tray in the living room. It won't stop the smell as such but poo and wee can be cleanly cleaned out in neat clumps. I bought loads of puppy pads from Amazon and left them all over the place-on the sofa, near the litter tray, around the litter tray etc. Using Rug Doctor enzymatic cleaner (dilited, without the machine) kills the smell on surfaces. I also bought a sofa vac when a cat sprayed on my sofa and then used that Rug Doctor enzyme shampoo and the smell came out completely.

Also try puppy pads on areas he frequents.

Thanks for the tips everyone, we have puppy pads and enzyme cleaner . He's weeing in the litter tray but not pooping in it! We're taking turns to sleep on the sofa to clean up poo as it happens so it doesn't get on his fur etc but the smell is still so overpowering!

Hopefully once he's recovered we can fling open the windows and usher out the stench...

Have you tried having a second tray. My lady has two, one for each function.

He will have another tray once he's out of the crate, no room at present.

Try feeding Scrumbles? Poo smells less.
