Two cats cost

I might be adopting a bonded pair from a local rescue. I think financially, it’s manageable- good quality food, litter, insurance, cat sitter when on holiday.

Can you advise the real costs please.

Will provide cat tax if I go ahead.

We have a pair. We are £300 per year for insurance, we pay £25 per month, that's for both cats. Litter maybe £50 per month and food around £60 a month.

Also, the cattery we use is £23 per day, that's with both cats sharing a large run with outdoor access.

Where are you all buying your cat litter from £70pm 😮 I get 40l of catsan for £20!

This sounds mostly right but food is a little more for us. (But I can't quite quantify it as I have three and they seem to eat endlessly 😂)
Also include either pets club or cost of annual vaccines (we pay £16 a cat I think every month to cover worming / fleas / annual vaccines).

Our cat sitter charges £8 per visit to come to the house. Plays with them, feeds them, does litter tray, sends us photos and updates, gets post in etc. would also water any plants/feed fish etc if we had any and put the bin out for us. Thinking about it we should probably pay her more... We have two visits per day. We prefer them to be in their own home, they have each other to play with and wouldn't cope well in a run.

It might be frequency - we change three extra large litter trays twice a week (which I put down partly to the food they're eating but I'm trying to change over)

Cane on to ask the same question. I pay £18 for 15kg and it lasts about 6 weeks!

I buy Everclean multi cat and have a litter tray that uses about 13 litres of litter. Full change every 10 days.

I don't think it will be as much as £200. I get a big bag of worlds best cat litter for £40 and that last one cat about 3 months. Cat food is about £10 a week plus a large bag of cat biscuits that last about a month. I am very fortunate in that mine has just needed one vet visit for vaccinations so those costs have been minimal. They are worth it though.

But this is total costs for four cats not two.

Christ, why are people spending so much on litter? We've had our kitten over 2 months now and only just bought a second bag of litter (which cost about £5) he has two trays, which get scooped as soon as he poops and pees, topped up as and when, and fully emptied and disinfected every 2 weeks. So litter isn't even a cost I'd factor into our ownership of a cat as in two months it's cost less than a fiver. His food is expensive as he's a breed that needs a high protein diet, and he eats alot! But I think it still only amounts to around £10 a week, hard to work out exactly as I bulk bought a load before we brought him home and haven't bought any since.
