Cardboard cat scratchers

Does anyone have experience of the compressed cardboard type scratching posts? Are they any good; do they last? Do cats like them?

Need to buy several scratching posts for a large property and thought these might do the job.

Would appreciate your views and any links. TIA.

I have found that they work and my cats love them but they eventually shred terribly and have to be replaced. I still have the sisal rope tower that I bought 5 years ago, otoh!

We have a couple of the cardboard scratchers and our cats like them almost as much as the wallpaper.

They usually come with a little sachet of catnip for you to sprinkle inside, and the do last reasonably well for the price. You do get a bit of a mess once they are really shredded though, but it is easily cleared up.

I have this cardboard scratcher from zooplus and the tall post from pets at home

The flat cardboard scratchers are brilliant. Cheap and you can turn them over

Ours love the cardboard one and ignore the rope ones

Mine loves the flat cardboard ones, she stopped scratching her rope tower and the sofas when I got it.

They last about 2 months, she scratches it multiple times a day though.

Cats like them. Cats use them. Yes they do get destroyed

Davros · 10/11/2024 18:11

Mewler definitely stopped clawing the furniture when we got these

We found them useless.

I got mine an Ultimate Cat Scratcher Lounge, and they are obsessed with it.
Really good quality cardboard as well.
