Essentials for a new cat

Evening everybody.

I am currently in the process of adopting a cat and have the horrible feeling I've forgotten something. What were your essentials and reccondations? Cat is an adult.

My list so far:
Food (wet and dry), bowls for food. Are water fountains worth it?
Cat bed.
Heated cat pad.
A tower (do you have one of these and a cat bed or is the bed in this ok?
Cat carrier.
Some toys (recommendations of your favourites would be amazing)
Litter tray and litter.

It seems a really short list! It has been a while since I've had a cat so all suggestions very welcome.

Oh yeah, we've used the cat carrier too! A lot. He's been to the vet on average almost once a week 😫 (Mostly for one single issue but it's been intense).

Get the cat insured as soon as you can!

  • Neutering at the appropriate life stage.
  • Vaccinations.
  • Insurance, or at the very least a pet health club type arrangement where you pay monthly for regular vet-prescribed wormer, regular vet-prescribed flea killer, and two health checks per year.

Definitely yes to insurance!

This has really reminded me that the stuff cats hate most is everything you think they'll love so spend an inordinate amount of money on 🤣
