Adoption has led to addiction!

We adopted our beautiful cat a couple of months ago and we couldn't love her anymore! She has settled in beautifully and already I can't imagine our lives without her in it.

Trouble is, I've become addicted to looking at rescue/rehoming pages and sites! Is this normal behaviour?! 😄

When we adopted her we were told that she wasn't keen on other cats and would prefer to be the only cat in the household. I guess that's the biggest reason preventing me from pursuing another.

Is this me now? A fully fledged cat addict?! I never thought I'd be this person. 🥹

We went cat-seeking at the beginning of last year and were introduced to a pair of ex-feral sisters, but ended up taking two other cats with different histories. A couple of days ago I looked at the rescue's website and lo, the two we'd been to see nearly a year ago were still there. I sometimes wonder whether they'd have fitted into the household as easily as our two did, or if we had taken them instead our two would still be in their cages a year later... I hope someone adopts the poor kitties eventually, but two is definitely enough for us. Maybe if a lost kitten turned up on the doorstep... No! Stop it! Stop it right now!

It’s a slippery slope…, ( I have eight)

When we adopted our kittens, the foster carer mentioned that their mum would be going up for adoption once they were settled. I met her and she is a lovely cat. I regularly check to see if she has been adopted yet - I don’t want 3 cats, but in my ideal world a good friend or relative would decide they wanted her so I would get to see her again.

I'm exactly the same.
We were also told that dcat didn't like other cats so I've never got another as I don't want to upset her now she has a settled home with us.
However, there is a rescue near us that I'm sure would help us find a match for her if we really wanted to. But there is also dp who doesn't see why we'd want another. Dd and I would fill the house with rescue cats if he wasn't around.
We are always sending each other adverts we see from the rescues of cats we'd love to have.

Oh god yes, but my cat is very happy ruling the roost and your cat is probably the same. I send the profiles of the cats I see into my family whatsapp group to quell the urge. And enjoy reading the stories of the cats who've been recently adopted from the rescue. In an ideal world there'd be many more of me and I'd adopt all the cats 😂
