Quality wet food that doesn’t STINK?

I did lots of research before settling on food for my 1 yr old boy. Wet food for his urinary system with dry for his teeth.
He has pouches of Meowing Heads which is a complete high meat content wet food. Then scrumbles dry on the side.
He eats well and is healthy.
The trouble is the stink of the pouches. My house is tiny and his bowl is in our only shared family space in the kitchen diner. When he is fed (twice a day) the stink goes through the whole house. Means we are eating in a room that reeks of fermenting fishy meaty smells.
Does anyone use a quality wet food that doesn’t absolutely honk?

Webox doesn't smell to bad.

Are you feeding your cat rotten food?

We've been feeding our cat wet pouches for over thirteen years, many, many different brands and I can't say any of them smell

Also, they are gone in seconds

coffeesaveslives · 26/10/2024 09:28

Mine eat their food within thirty seconds flat so we've never had this issue 😂

Encore

Feed him outside? Obviously in some form of shelter.

Sethera · 26/10/2024 09:31

You have to see this (or smell this) from your cat's perspective. What's a 'stink' to our noses is tasty and appetising to a cat.

Meowing Heads is vile! We live in a flat and it made the whole place stink - I was so glad when Harry went off it! What about Scrumbles wet food, I don't recall that smelling too bad.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/10/2024 09:55

Gourmet smells slightly, but quite nice actually 🤣

Farmgoose · 26/10/2024 10:50

Thanks all. Will have a look at scrumbles wet.
Not outside because of flies.
He tends to eat 2/3 of it then eat the rest a bit later. Can’t feed 3x a day as sometimes in the office.
Looking for something of the same quality as MH without the stink! I have about 80 pouches left but will try some other brands and see if can get him to switch. I guess I am wondering if complete and grain free wet foods all stink so thanks for answering that one!

We had a motion sensor feeder for Harry so at least the food was covered when he wasn't eating

coffeesaveslives · 26/10/2024 12:44

If he doesn't eat all of it just give him less and put the rest in a motion-activated feeder with a chill pack underneath.

My cats were eating all sorts of food, katkin, scrumbles, all these fancy expensive wet foods and always had something e.g. really smelly poops, vomitting, not eating all of it. However out of desperation I tried the Felix doubly delicious and they're thriving. I also give them a quality dry food and one had urinary problems so she gets a supplement daily. I wish I hadn't wasted all the money over the years. And it also smells slightly meaty but not the usual wet food stink.

Farmgoose · 26/10/2024 16:12

Thanks again. I could try giving his wet first and putting the scrumbles on a timer for a midday snack. Even if he eats it all immediately though the stench takes over the kitchen just opening the packet.
Have actually just checked the reviews on Amazon and lots of people talking about the strong smell so it’s not just me!

Untamed is quite nice, especially the tuna one!

kittylion2 · 26/10/2024 16:45

Katkin is good - but you have to have room in your freezer.

hoarahloux · 26/10/2024 18:18

Meowing Heads is particularly bad, never found another food that stinks like it! Thrive, Untamed, Lily's Kitchen all smell much fresher.

AllTheOtherCats · 26/10/2024 18:50

My kitties have eaten all sorts over the years but the least smelly food I ever used was Purrform raw. And it also made the poo less smelly too

Overtheatlantic · 26/10/2024 18:59

PurrForm doesn’t stink but it has to be kept in your freezer. My cat loves it.

TeaMistress · 26/10/2024 19:01

Rosies Farm and Gourmet aren't too bad.

namestevalian · 29/10/2024 12:11

I'm buying a carbon air purifier to cope with the smells ... whilst I research other options

stormsandsunshine · 29/10/2024 13:04

We are trying Feringa just now and according to DD1, it smells really nice. I don’t know if I’d go that far but it smells meaty rather than vile.
