We lost our beautiful old lady last

Our 17 year old cat was diagnosed with cancer at the start of the month. We were watching and waiting to see how she was with the support of our vet but she declined rapidly since Monday and last night we had to go and see the emergency vet and have her put to sleep.

We are all devastated. Our 10 and 16 year olds cried themselves to sleep and I didn't sleep much either, neither did my husband.

When I went downstairs to get ready for work this morning I burst into tears at the sign of her bowls and bed.

I know we did the right thing for her but I keep picturing her last few hours and how poorly she is.

RIP beautiful girl. I hope you are flying high up there, chasing birds and having lots of treats. Thank you for all the love, cuddles and joints of beef from the neighbours that you dragged in over the years xx

So sorry to read this. Please know that you did the right thing - it is such a blessing to be able to offer a dignified end for our furry little companions in life. What was her name? Would you like to share some memories of her here?

I’m so sorry, it’s so hard when you have to say goodbye. Try and remember you did the right thing so that she didn’t suffer any more and that was a kindness, and be kind to yourself

So very sorry for your loss, sound like she had a glorious life with you (and your neighbours!) and brought you much joy, I hope all the happy memories bring you comfort in time💐
