Hoping for some advice.
We adopted three cats at the end of August, all around two ish. One of them, who was picked up as a stray, but is absolutely not a stray, is the only one bothered that much about being out - the other two are still pretty nervous and stood at the door but ran away as soon as the wind blew.
The one who wants to be out has been going out at weekends for the past two, to explore the garden. It's clear he wants more and has already walked around the various fence lines and across the neighbour shed.
He's got a reactive tracker on as we live on a busy road out front and so I want to know as soon as he goes near it.
When do I let him just go, instead of supervising and calling him back? It's clear he's going to roam, but when do I know he's ready to be let out alone? How frequently should I call him back?
My last boys just never left the garden really and so it's been years since I needed to work all this out so desperate for advice - I guess what I really want to know is how much time does he need to be supervised before I can trust him to find his way home - especially given he has clearly either been lost or abandoned once before in his past?
