Scratching at bedroom doors 😭

Got two new kittens, 5 months old, this is the 4th night I’ve had them. Every night one of them scratches at my door asking to
be let in - can’t have them in my room at night due to asthma - tonight he’s been scratching and ‘crying’ for ages… This will get better, won’t it?? Once he realises it’s A Rule??

the layout of the house is irritating in that I can’t lock them downstairs- food is in the tiny kitchen, litter trays are in the downstairs toilet

If allergies are already a problem I'd maybe rethink cats at all. Allergies can very easily get worse.

I started with a very mild cat allergy (I only reacted very slightly to long haired cats) and adopted some shorthair ones. When they were 6 I suddenly became very allergic and need anti histamines every day to keep my asthma under control now.

I never did manage to keep them out the bedroom though, we sleep in a big snoring, purring, wheezing pile.

Maybe try leaving a favourite blanket or something outside the door.
My cats love one of my old cardigans and are happy to sleep on that outside the door.
It's quite sweet really that that want to sleep near us.

It’s not much better when they are in the room, I have one that likes to sleep in my armpits and the other is chasing his own tail on the bed.

It’s an odd choice to get kittens when allergic though, why?!!

I’m 50 now, had cats since I was 14, been allergic since I was 20 or so. The allergy is manageable, just can’t have them sleeping next to me all night.

thank you, I’ll try the favourite bed/blanket outside the door. It’s VERY sweet they want to be with me, never had cats this friendly/needy before 😀
