Vet has recommended cat is confined to one room for a few months. This needs to be kitchen. How can I make it as nice as possible for him? He doesn't play (older boy) or use scratch posts (prefers the carpets or furniture)

Just a cosy basket - OR maybe a radiator bed for height and warmth. Litter, water, food. Kitty will be fine! Smile

radiator bed - Google Search

He will sleep much of the night anyway, so won't need much @Hernamewaslola22

Thank you. Just feel guilty and want to make sure he is as comfortable and happy as possible

Raised sleeper. At least 8 inches. The floor is draughty. But make sure he can get up onto the bed if he's had surgery or whatever.

Possibly a small plug in oil filled radiator on at night on the lowest setting next to his bed. Cheaper than the whole house central heating on.

Litter tray not next to food and water bowls.

my Ernie has a plug in heated mat from Amazon , loves it in winter. He can be snug if I am out and heating off.

Our boy is confined to the kitchen at night because otherwise he is an unholy pest. He has a wicker basket of toys and will get them out to play with, a bed he sleeps in, and also an Amazon box with a blanket in on top of the fridge/freezer that he likes too. Litter tray is at one end of the room, food and water at the other.

He likes it in there - right now he is actually in that cat bed sleeping despite having the whole house to choose from. He moved it under the clothes airer so it’s like a little tent! We frequently come through in the morning to find toy mouses everywhere, and him sitting hopped up on the ironing board shouting at the birds. He has been known to break into the green kitchen waste caddy overnight, and there was another time he had been sick which was alarming until I discovered he had shredded a packet of Dreamies, eaten the lot, then puked them up. Treats are now sealed in a Tupperware box.

Our puss has a pouffe with a blanket, cats do like a bit of height for view and to keep away from draughts.

Why does he need to be confined to one room? That will affect what he needs in there. I know someone who had to do similar because of a leg injury and it needed to be arranged so there wasn't things for him to jump up and down on.
