Does anyone remember our rescue Reggie?

We got him a year ago, MNetters were so kind and helpful at the time.

We just had to put him to sleep this evening. We only had him a year, but I like to think he had a very good year with us, with cuddles and sunlight and an outside to explore.

Not entirely sure why I’m posted other than I’m just sad for Reg, and for DS7 who is distraught.

I remember him very well. So sorry he's gone but glad he had a good year. Lovely photo.

I remember him - the beautiful tabby who’d spent most of his life shut up alone in a dark room.

I wish it had been longer but I am so glad you gave him a year of sunshine and happiness.

I’m so sorry you and your poor DS have lost him. Be kind to yourselves.

Oh beautiful Reggie, thank goodness he got a wonderful final year with you and your family. I'm so sorry, hope you're dd feels better soon.

Thank you. I’m trying to focus on what a good life he’s had for the past year compared to the previous few years. And that we were able to put him to sleep very quickly when a problem came back, so he didn’t have to suffer at all.

Oh Reg, I am so sad to see this. But what a wonderful year he had with you. With love and sunshine and happiness and grass under his paws. And an easy passing when the time came. You gave him a wonderful life with you.

Thank you, that message made me tear up in a good way. DCat1 is confused even though she didn’t like him that much. I’m glad it was quick and easy in the end before he was in much pain again, and grateful to our vets who were able to do in within a few hours and were so kind and caring to DS when he was saying goodbye.

im so sorry you've lost him so soon, but he's had a wonderful year & as far as he knows just gone for a good sleep.

Poor DS 🥲. I choose to think we'll see all our loved ones & pets after we die & all the pets get on & have a wonderful time together. It keeps me going at times.

DS is very much about that this morning. He’s imagining a cat heaven with all the things Reg likes best, which is making him feel better.

What I say is, if our pets aren't there it can't be heaven.

Oh Reggie, how sad he had passed but what a lovely wonderful year he has had making your family complete.

Actually had a thought: you had lovely Reggie for a year, but for Reggie it was at least 4 cat years, four years of bliss for him xx
