Facebook is trying to sell me this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Celery-Steam-Cleaning-Steamy-Upgrade/dp/B0D7S81K3D
(Celery pets steam brush 3 in 1 if you'd rather not follow a link)

Tbh I'm tempted but maybe that's because I'm.a sucker... I'd be interested to hear unbiased reviews 🙂

My cat would rip my arm off from the shoulder if I tried it so I wouldn't bother 🤣

MaidOfAle · 27/09/2024 22:20

Steam should never be applied to an animal because of the risk of scalding. A human can tell you that it's too hot, but an animal can't.

Renamed · 27/09/2024 22:23

Yes there’s no way I’d risk boiling steam anyway near my cat!

Puppylucky · 28/09/2024 17:29

I've got one because I'm a sucker. The steam is actually a fine mist which isn't even warm water. Elton hates it but he hates everything 🙄

Absolutely, and i'm on blood thinners so it would be an absolute gore fest. It takes two people and a large towel to get him in the cat box, so it's a hard no from me.

CurlewKate · 28/09/2024 18:12

Why would you?

pinneddownbytabbies · 28/09/2024 18:38

I can't see any of my lot tolerating that thing anywhere near them.

Cocothecoconut · 28/09/2024 18:43

Why would you want to steam a cat

TomatoSandwiches · 28/09/2024 18:44

No I'm not a fan of animal cruelty.

TheShellBeach · 28/09/2024 18:46

When I was charging mine, the water seeped out of it and went under the laptop.

I tried it when it was cold on one cat and he ran off.

Binned it.

lovelydayIhave · 28/09/2024 18:53

I wouldn't trust that.

I can't imagine any cat would like that.

What's wrong with brushing their fur?

Get some decent fur brush?

Our cat is not very trustworthy to the new gadgets and she would not let me anywhere near her either that.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 28/09/2024 18:57

Of course you can't steam clean your cat!

I use a jet wash, well I say 'use' , I've only ever done it once and 'Catalonia' was blown over the fence quicker than you can say "Tom and Jerry".
(The neighbour has refused to return her.)

The poodle in the tumble-dryer experiment ended rather bady too - although he was very soft and fluffy, and smelt very summery when we put him the box.

@Cocothecoconut

i doubt that pissy little thing would get tepid, let alone 'steamy'

the mist might be handy to get the hair not to float off, but you can achieve the same result just be dampening a normal rubber brush.

BobbyBiscuits · 28/09/2024 19:06

Electrical appliances in general are usually very alarming to cats. Mine have always been terrified of the hoover, hairdryer, of course drilling, banging etc. even the noise of a spray or a can opening!

I'd imagine it to be unnecessary and scary for them. It would make them hand shy and scared of the normal brush. Mine would anyway.

So no, I wouldn't and probably physically couldn't.

My big boy scratched the living crap out of my stomach and nearly took my finger off last time I tried to put flea treatment on him!

CurlewKate · 28/09/2024 19:08

One of the good things about cats is that they are almost entirely self cleaning.

Yes! No steam required

Habbit · 28/09/2024 19:12

What the hell?! Who would want to steam clean a cat?

We did have a cat who enjoyed being vacuumed, though.

LostCats · 28/09/2024 20:59

Now that is a handy trick Habbit! Bypass all the brushing and vacuuming the house faff and go direct to source! I am terribly envious

I have a similar non-electrical thing which was good when it was very hot. The cat seemed to like it. It didn't get him wet, but stopped the flyaways and got a lot of excess fluff off him. Just made the brush a bit damp.

hereismydog · 30/09/2024 13:52

I used my Dyson Air Wrap (on cool!) to dry my girl when she came in absolutely bedraggled! She looked so fancy, and seemed to really enjoy it Grin

This thread has me giggling and the beautiful cat pic is the cherry on the top!
I've got 3 cats and they'd probably leave me and find a new owner if I tried this!!!
Mine don't mind a bit of rain.
Feel like Amazon is almost as bad as Temu these days the shite on there that's totally unsafe.
