Boy cat and I finally moved into our forever home last week. His big release into the wild (garden) is on Saturday.

This fantastic looking fella just wandered through the communal garden so I guess he lives here.

Please send all your prayers to the cat gods that they are friends? Boy cat did live with another cat until April and had definitely lost his friendliness towards others cats since.

Good luck, though I'd probably leave it a bit longer before letting him out,

I agree. I would wait three weeks after a move.

Pixiedust1234 · 17/09/2024 09:02

Pity you can't hunt down its owner and do an exchange of scent blankets first 😂🤔

EDIT - reread post - I agree with others, a couple more weeks would be better. Good luck!!

CleanShirt · 17/09/2024 09:22

He's always done 2 weeks after moves and been fine, plus he's bored to tears so won't be extending any further - I need sleep 😂

I was trying to draw his attention to the other cat through the window but he was busy playing with an old toilet roll.

Still time to hunt their owner down 😂

Congrats to both of you on your forever home!
can you send DCat out with some dreamies and a new loo roll?

They could shake paws and say hello 😺

Good luck, they do look a bit like they could be related: similar colouring.....
How about putting something of Boy cat's outside so the resident gets a scent of him, or would that give the other cat an unfair advantage?

Pudmyboy · 17/09/2024 20:01

Also: I hope you are very happy in your new forever home!

I was thinking of putting a bit of his used little out there to alert his new friend (and help him acclimatise on Saturday)? I have a walled patio that goes out onto the communal garden so at least there is some separation.

That's no friend.. It's faaaamily...

Pudmyboy · 21/09/2024 09:28

Good luck today! Hope everything goes smoothly 😸

Pudmyboy · 22/09/2024 23:02

How did the meet and greet/explore go @CleanShirt ? Or did you have to put it off due to the rain?

CleanShirt · 23/09/2024 11:57

He's free @Pudmyboy, but showing very little interest due to the weather!

Figured out the cat flat straight away. not met the (two! I've seen another one!) friends in person but did have a little howl through the window at one.

I'm at work today so he's on his tod, I hope I don't come back to a vet trip!

Update - a very sweet looking little black cat came to my garden wall yesterday. Boy cat immediately puffed up and chased him off. But no fighting!

He was awol this morning so keen to get home! He hasn't really been out much due to the rain.

That shows he feels at home already if he is defending his territory! Wonder if he will make friends eventually once he has settled in?
