Cat talks in his sleep

My big boy, tabby and a little overweight, 6yo I've had since a baby, neutered...he's started talking in his sleep!

He kind of speaks and lightly growls, murmurs, not like meowing, but also sounds a bit wheezy sometimes, but only when sleeping. His vocalisation is so loud it sometimes wakes me up when he sleeps in the same room.

I've another slightly younger cat but they get on really well.

I think he's dreaming, but it's so noisy sometimes that I'm surprised he doesn't wake himself up.

Has anyone else got a cat who does this? And why it seems to have only started happening recently?

Thank you cat lovers x

Can’t help with no cat tax 😀
Jokes aside, my beloved boy snores so much now I’m amazed he can sleep through it! Our younger one has been known to squeak and mew in his sleep. Just an active dream I think?

One of my boys snores so loud the first night I had him I thought some heavy breathing bloke had broken in.

my other boy chases mice in his sleep, growls, flicks his paws, twitches his ears and meows/huffs. It's so cute.

Love watching mine in active dreams. They all do it in varying degrees and noise levels. Occasionally waking themselves up. It's very normal.
