Hi
first of all, if you have an answer to my question, ok.. if not just ignore.
I’m going through a flea infestation and have no pets. All started when moved into this flat, that apparently had a dormant infestation of fleas from the previous tenants. Didn’t take it seriously as I thought fleas can only live on pets and don’t infest houses ( oh I was so wrong) . Tried to take care of it with flea sprays, the one vet recommended, but probably was applied wrong and the infestation was persistent anyway. So after a some time I decided to get in touch with a pest control company as they know better and are experts & definitely will get on top of it. Had the first spray at the beginning of march and second one two weeks apart. Worked like a charm for a while, until we had to look after someone’s cat in August. So I contacted the guy that sprayed our apartment and to ask him if there’s a possibility that the fleas would come back, and he said no way if there were still fleas as would see them until now. So we kindly informed the cat owners about the situation we had with the fleas in the past & they said it’s ok as the pet was treated anyway and wouldn’t be a problem. After a few days with the pet in our apartment, it started to scratch itself and constantly acting like something was bothering it. And there’s when we realised it might be the fleas that apparently can last in your carpet in the pupae form. We treated the pet ourselves with spot on, witch was due anyway in a week or so and rang the pest guy again to say his information was incorrect and we got infested again. The guy came back to spray(remember this is 5 months apart) and after that we still had fleas. We told us he would come back to spray but I think it couldn’t help as he was not professional at all, because when I asked him what was the name of the insecticide he seemed confused and had to call his office to find out. We gave the cat away, started cleaning and found another company, where the guy would tell us what is he using and that we need something with an IGR ( insect growth regulator). The guy was brilliant and came next day to do the treatment, spent an hour inside making sure he gets in all places they can hide, not the same as the first guy who spent only 3 minutes inside. He came back in 2 weeks just in case… not a flea in sight but still worried about getting re-infested. I made some traps with soapy water and didn’t catch anything. I just hope this time will be effective as the guy really sprayed everywhere and used something that stops the life-cycle… My question is did someone experienced something similar and had luck with pest control? Please don’t give me home or diy remedies because didn’t work for us in the first place. Sorry for the size of the text tho x
