Hello! Just wondering if anyone has bought this cat flap (detects prey) from indiegogo?

We have a nearly 1 yr old kitten who is a prolific killer and I'm far more squeamish than I though I'd be, and am finding myself dreading coming home/getting up in the morning in case she's brought in another dead (or increasingly alive!) mouse. I'd happily buy one of these if available in the shops but I'm slightly dubious that it won't work if you can only buy from indiegogo at the moment.

I'd you do have one, does it work?!

Thank you! Cat tax included 😀

I have one. It has stopped several mice and birds. Now they leave them on the doorstep for me! No prey has made it in.

They're very very responsive. We've had a few false positives where they have been denied entry due to their paws rather than mice but they actively came to us to say they've noticed and will add us to some testing to try reduce.

It will continue to get better as it gets more videos of cats.

Ah this all sounds fab - can't wait for mine to arrive!

Bonnie says you won’t regret it (but your cat will!). It’s been amazing not having to clear up bloods and guts every morning or chasing round live mice and birds.

OnlyCat is real! I was backer number 583, paid for it in November 2023, got it delivered towards the end on November this year. A long wait but was worth every penny. My two furr babies love to hunt, one of the, Mizumi, graduated to bringing in live mice (sometimes 3 in a single night), lets them loose in the bedroom and watches me trying to catch it. 3 years of disrupted sleep and worry about mice infestation came to an end after we installed the OnlyCat cat flap. It works wonderfully! Mizumi attempted only once so far a delivery of a 'contraband' as Only Cat defines pray, and the cat flap worked as described. Entry denied. She tried several times...If you order/buy now, you are likely to be in a longish queue, but I think it is money and time well invested. BTW, her sister, Ayana, is a bird specialist :) The cat flap is also useful in another aspect; every exit/entry video has a time stamp, so I always know what time the little damsels went out and when did they came home. I hope this helps :) Here is the video of Mizumi with a mouse: https://onlycat.app/events/OC-8C1F64481180/86?t=ex73fk

Ummm I would worry about her not being able to get in. Or getting confused as to why the cat flap wasn't working and not trying without the prey and getting stuck outside.

charlieinthehaystack · 16/12/2024 14:18

sounds interesting but sadly catching things is the way of cats. A tabby may have farm cat in its history which were bred for killing such as mice, no mice no food. a lot of people say a bell on a collar deters them but its their nature.

Hi @KittyQuestions34 @SpinningTops and @Crazymadchickenlady - how are you getting on with your OnlyCat cat flap? I am thinking of getting one as well and would love to know if it's worth it! Thank you and hope your cats are happy, healthy and being good!!

Crazymadchickenlady · 29/03/2025 11:58

@chainsinnalice we still love ours and definitely recommend it.

Does the cat come back quite quickly without the prey?

I am glad this has taken off for the inventors.

chainsinnalice · 29/03/2025 12:06

Thank you so much for your quick reply @Crazymadchickenlady - I really appreciate it. It's getting to that time of year where our little darling likes to bring back 'gifts' and I'm literally sitting here now feeling so anxious about it. I feel bad locking the cat flap during the day for a couple of hours at a time but I feel like I have to check the window to make sure there is only a car coming in and not 1 cat + a 'friend'

We currently have a Sureflap set in the patio window. The website says OnlyCat is compatible with Sureflap, so hoping it will be an easy install if we get it.

I'm so glad it's working for you!

Crazymadchickenlady · 29/03/2025 12:20

@chainsinnalice we had a sureflap one (a battery one with the chip reader) before and it was just a straight swop out. You do need a power supply for the OnlyCat. We now have mice left outside the back door but haven’t had one brought in since we got the flap.

chainsinnalice · 29/03/2025 12:56

Ok @Crazymadchickenlady thank you, that's good to know. The power supply thing isn't ideal but it's a hell of a lot more ideal than mice and sparrows in the house! I know there is an app, could my partner and I both be on the App and see what's going on if that makes sense? I guess you probably can do that, but would be good to know. Thank you again for all your help.

Crazymadchickenlady · 29/03/2025 19:23

We both have the app but I think I just gave DH my log in rather than him have a separate app. Our cats seem to have learnt they can’t get in with mice and don’t try much anymore but they still try their luck every now and then. I was backer number 82 so have had the flap nearly a year now I think.

KittyQuestions34 · 02/04/2025 20:23

Sorry I forgot about this thread and have just come back to see new replies! I have now received the cat flap and it is brilliant so far - she has not tried to bring any prey in, but it has stopped her bringing feathers in (which is kinda heartbreaking tbh, I don't mind the feathers!!). She did seem to get a bit confused that she couldn't get in, so I am a bit worried about that, but I'm hoping she'll be able to work out that she just needs to drop whatever's in her mouth and it will unlock, fingers crossed!

I'm absolutely loving the little videos of her going in and out, so cute!! and reassuring as I can find out if she's in or out really easily. So far, so good!

Am I the only one thinking that OnlyCat sounds a bit too much like OnlyFans?

Also loving the CCTV labelled 'contraband detected'. All seems rather James Bond!

unhappybutunsureofwork · 02/04/2025 21:41

My sister has only cat and it does work. It has given her peace of mind about the cats and does stop them bringing anything in- it also stops other cats coming in.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 02/04/2025 22:34

It has got to be worth the money. Our ancient cat used to bring in mice and dump them, up until 2-3 years ago. Youngest DC became expert at finding them, but honestly, it is unhygienic and disgusting.

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 16/10/2025 09:30

just came across this thread, after one of mine brought a live rat in the other day. It is still hiding behind my wardrobe very much alive, and I am not happy about it! Now to find £500.....

SusanOldknow · 17/10/2025 12:39

In case useful, we have the ZeroMouse - it's been fantastic, and stopped our cat bringing in a live rodent.
So pleased that these options now exist !
