My beautiful boy

We received a knock on our door to say there was a cat on the road and it was my beloved Jerry, not even 10 years old. I am so so sad. I can't imagine working at home without him. Or sleeping in my bed, or coming home from being away for the day. I feel like I've lost a part of myself. What do people do with the body? I feel so torn between the options, appreciate any thoughts. Pictures added because he is so beautiful.

So very sorry, what a tragic loss for you and your family 💔
Your pictures are lovely, he his so handsome and has such a cute expression, I bet he was a real character...I hope in time you can remember the good times with him, but for now allow yourself to grieve, he is part of your family and it's okay to let yourself grieve and to say how much you miss him💐
Another vote for bury deep or in a box, if you have foxes nearby.

@Jezzballs2000

Oh sweetie...... I'm so, so, so sorry. Sad I think when a cat is old and ailing and weak and frail - like 17 to 20 years old or more, and you have to get them put to sleep, you know it's the best thing for them. It's the kindest thing to do, you wave them goodbye - over the rainbow bridge - with a very heavy heart, and sadness in your soul, but knowing it's the best thing for them...

But for your lovely boy, who has been taken at just 10 years old, that's so devastating ...😢 That's just like, middle aged. That's like a human dying at 45! Just far too young. And for him to be tragically killed by getting hit by a car - that's very sad.

He's absolutely gorgeous! Look at his beautiful face. Smile I do feel your heartbreak because we did lose one of our beautiful cats at just 7 years old. (Some years ago.) We never found out what happened to her. She went missing for two weeks - and then was found behind somebody's garage when they came home from holiday. Looks like she had been dead for a while, and it looked like she died the day that she went missing.

We were absolutely heartbroken. My two children were only primary school age at the time and they were devastated. We never found out what happened to her. We just assumed maybe a dog attacked her, or it might have been a massive rat or something.

I really don't know what to say to you, except you really have my sympathy. Flowers I'm really sorry that there's nothing I can say to make it better. I just know that time will heal ...

Thinking of you tonight, and your pain and sorrow... Take care. 💕

So sorry for your loss, and for the pain you felt or even still feel, how are all coping now?

Thank you so much. It's been a hard day. I spent a lot of it crying and still feel really empty and sad. When my son was picked up I started digging the grave- it took hours!! It was actually nice to have a physical job to focus on but I only managed two feet deep as it was heavy clay. I then wrapped him in a silk scarf of my grandmother's and put in a toy mouse and buried him and had another cry. I've put a paving slab and some rocks on top and will eventually put a plant there. Still doesn't feel real!

I think you are right about having a physical task to focus on and it sounds like you did him proud, the lovely touches of your grandmother's silk scarf and a mouse for him to play with, it sounds just perfect, and then protecting him with the rocks, like a cairn.....
I bet you are shattered today..... please do something nice for you and your family, maybe go out if you can?

@Pudmyboy thank you, I appreciate hearing that. I am trying to force myself out of the house as I know it will help. Hope you (and everyone) has a lovely weekend. Hold those loved ones tight! Xx

What a handsome cat.
I buried our 17yr old cat this year in the garden.
He came home from the vets in a calico bag.
A nice touch I wasnt to ok with at the time was a paw printed card
We miss those cat habits and comforts, sitting by the door watching us arrive home, rubbing our heads together.
Aren't cats and animals the best.x
