My newest kitten, Gizmo, has just come back from the vets after castration. He is extremely unimpressed with the e-collar from the vet, and a soft fabric one I bought and I can't keep either of them on him... I don't recall using a collar on boy cats in the last, but as the last time I had one neutered would've been 10 year ago I could be misremembering...

Anyway, thought I'd consult the vast feline knowledge here for opinions as to whether to persist or leave him well enough alone as long as he's not frantically licking wound...

Also, paperwork from vet says to keep him isolated for 5-7 days... I certainly didn't do that with boy cats before...

Thoughts?

Obligatory kitten tax attached 😹

Neither of mine had a cone after neutering.

None of mine have ever worn or a cone or needed any specific care. They've all come home bouncing off the walls and you wouldn't have a clue that anything had happened.

Thanks... that's my recollection of previous boy cats and seems to be the case with Gizmo too... I have released him from the tyranny and given him the run of the house again now anaesthetic has fully worn off and he's eaten, peed and pooed...

He is delighted 🤩

Bless him Grin

My first cat was called Gizmo - we brought him home from his neuter, let him out of the carrier and he zoomed across the room and immediately started a wrestling match with his sister 🙈
