Confinement after neutering

Cat was neutered yesterday. She is confined to sitting room with cone on. But she is absolutely desperate to get out into rest of house . She is jumping round loads and very restless . The only reason we are keeping her in there is to avoid the stairs .

But I'm wondering if she would actually be more settled if she were not confined to one room. Are the stairs really that bad at this stage ?
She had a mid line cut, not flank .

Ok, I've rang the vets and they said there is probably not much difference with climbing the stairs and jumping from the floor to sofa in the sitting room. The danger is in the wound stretching. So I think I may let her out of the sitting room.

Mine were impossible to confine too.

I gave up! They were fine. Fortunately.

@DeliciousApples At what point did you give up? We have been 24 hours , not let her out yet , but thinking of later tonight so she can sleep on our bed if she wants to.

It was about 24 hours for me.

The continual mewing and jumping about to try and find a way out of the kitchen did my head in so I let them into the livingroom.

They immediately calmed down once normality had resumed although I was worried about them jumping on and off the couch. But they seemed ok.

They did jump though it was less distance than jumping from worktop to floor and back up that they were doing in the kitchen continually as though they wanted to escape.

After that they just slept on the bed etc and were fine.

Mine was never confined and never wore a cone - she just came home and carried on as normal. She also lived with other cats and a dog and we never had a problem.

How's the cat today OP?
