How much to feed new kittens

We have two 5 month old kittens we adopted a month ago. When they arrived they were quite skinny, but I am not wondering if how much I am feeding them is correct.

I give them on average 3 pouches each a day and they have access to dry food at all time. I feed them kitten whiskers and purina for kittens. I divide up into smaller meals between 6am and 10 pm so they will be fed 6 times a day. They do sometimes ask for food too and I will then give extra.

is this about right?

They are indoors at the moment and very active.

Sounds like they are getting all they want, which at that stage in life is correct. They will be growing at a phenomenal rate, plus burning up the calories rapidly with their playing & antics.

If you can just feel their ribs running your hands down their sides not pressing hard, that should be fine if you were worried about them getting fat. Unless they start looking fat I wouldn't worry but just check with the vet at their next routine visit.

It’s almost impossible to over feed a kitten. They will burn it off very quickly.
