ive mentioned many times that i have a ginger tom, he's about 3 now and hes a wanderer..

the longest he has gone for has been 5 weeks and he just rocked up as if he had only gone out the day before.

and he's at it again. he's been gone 9 days now! and its breaking my heart not knowing and not sure i can do another 5 week wait?

if he comes home, i know i can't make him a house cat because thats not fair, and if i put a tracker on him i would become obsessed with it and i just dont know what to do.

Hand hold from me. I would definitely get a tracker!

In this weather a lot of cats seem to be taking a wander. 9 days though, I would be beside myself.

Could he be staying with someone else? Seems a long time to be gone for. Is he being fed somewhere?

whenever come comes back he is never skinny or dirty! he is chipped and he does wear a collar so he's clearly a pet!

Hand hold here! Hope he rocks up soon and is very sorry for his poor behaviour (okay the last bit is a fantasy but maybe one day it will come true!)

Could you catproof your garden maybe?

Mine all go out but never wander far from home thankfully!

You mentioned he's a tom? Get him neutered asap, he's far more likely to become a cuddly lap cat without all that testosterone!

They shouldn't, but lots of people will encourage visiting cats to stay a while, makong a fuss of them, letting them sleep in a peaceful spot, even feeding them. Try a paper collar that says something like 'my owner worries when I am away - please don't feed me or encourage me to stay' and post on your local FB page if you have one. Our local page is full of 'missing' cat posts, usually followed by people posting pics of said cat in their garden / house!
