Fleas

I have two cats who have regular flea treatment every month with Advocate, the last one was 3 weeks ago. On Monday I noticed a flea on one of them and when we combed them found quite a few, they are groomed regularly and we haven’t seen any until recently, since then we have given them a bath with flea shampoo, hoovered regularly, sprayed Indorex and combed them with flea combs every day and we are still finding numerous fleas on them, any other ideas? I phoned the vets and they just recommended everything we are doing, they said they could change the flea treatment but the one they are on was the best

I use Stronghold plus on mine

Try Capstar tablets in conjunction with indorex for house and hoovering/washing their bedding everyday

This summer has been an uphill battle against fleas with mine. It’s relentless.

Try serester collar - worked for us but it is expensive.

If fleas are in the carpet, you’re not going to get them out by vacuuming. We did all the things you did, monthly treatment for the cats, washing their bedding every day, sprayed the carpet with flea killer, had the cats bathed at the vet, sprayed the garden multiple times, and still found fleas.

Finally, had to fumigate the house. (Of course, the cats were at the vet.) Those fleas are ruthless.

Good luck. I truly hope you find a solution that works for you.

Same. I thought we had got rid them them but checked today and found a few on her. It's driving me crazy.

Any tips on treating the garden?

To the vet you must go, with your cats, and get a prescription-only flea killer.

The shop-bought stuff is useless.

Advocate is a prescription flea treatment from the vet!

It is from vets, it feels like I’m paying a fortune every month for no results at the moment.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I’ll look into them all.

DCat is on Bravecto and I pay a monthly fee for a pet health plan that covers his flea killer, wormer, booster shots, and twice per year health check.
