Cat Adoption

We lost our precious boy recently and are hoping to adopt a kitten soon. We've contacted several adoption centres and they all want videos of our home. What exactly do we need to video? Is it all rooms in the house.

At least two said we need to apply for a specific one online even though the site hasn't been updated in months. It's going to be a nightmare is it it 😭. Obviously I get the reason behind it but my vet has already wrote us a reference but it doesn't seem to be worth much.

I’d expect it to be all rooms. The rescue I volunteer for do home checks over Zoom.

What charities are you contacting and where in the UK are you? Some are pretty strict. We didn't even get a home visit with Cat's Protection. They googled our house.

I adopted during a lockdown and they asked for photos of the house generally (I didn't include pics of the bedrooms as I don't, or rather didn't, allow cats in bedrooms) and specifically photos of the room I'd use for settling her (a condition of adopting her was having a spare room as she was a semi-feral and needed her own space), the location of the cat flap and pics of the garden.

A video with a narration/description that covers these sort of things should be ample.

Thank you all. We've an appointment to see some kittens on Friday and then they'll arrange a home visit.

To be honest I was quite worried about the teens room but I wouldn't inflict that on any cat anyway 😂

If it all works out I'll pay my cat tax.

We adopted back in April after losing our lovely girl. I did a TikTok type tour of our house, narrating it as I went, then out to the garden - it was obviously fine because I went to meet our boy who was in foster care the following week. That was Cats Protection.
