Cat not home= when to panic?

Cat went out about 5 this morning. It's now after 7 and he's not home. This is very unusual as he goes out in the morning back for lunch then out in the afternoon back home about 6 for the evening.
He's only 1 but is neutered and has a collar with our address on.
We've been up and all around where we think he could be
When should we panic?

Yes he sauntered home at about half past nine on Friday. He's being kept inside for a while now. We were beginning to really panic.
