Keeping kitty on the flowerbed

We have a neutered 10 month old who has just started spending lots of time outdoors with the arrival of spring (ha! No one told me it was here).

Trouble is he is pooping in my flowerbed and digging up my newly planted flowers. He has 2 litter boxes indoors and uses them. How can I keep him off my flower bed and stop him pooping near my strawberries?!

Chicken wire across the top?

Bamboo barbecue sticks stuck in the bed, quite thickly, so he can't poop without a prickle

Super easy as the hoops are already sewn into the mesh so you just open it up like a concertina
