Kitten took her cone off after being spayed today

I have a lovely little female kitten who just got spayed - she was sent home with a plastic cone but has managed to get it off twice and became quite distressed every time I’ve tried to put it on. The vet said she wasn’t thrilled either after surgery and kept hissing - a bit stressed as I have to watch her constantly and use the feather wand every time I think she is trying to lick the area.

I’ve ordered the fabric donut cone pillow thing off Amazon as think is she may not be able to get it off but it’s not arriving till tomorrow.

She hasn’t been excessively licking but has gone for it a couple of times. I literally can’t get anything on her as she yelps and scampers away. The only time she is still is if I feed her lick e lix which I might try to do when the Amazon item arrives. The plastic cone provided is useless. I can’t put socks t shirts or anything as she literally snarls at me and tries to bite when I do.
Normally she is lovely 😂

Will she be ok overnight? There’s not much more I can do and have tried everything. In your experience can it cause a danger if she is left overnight like this?

Does she have internal or external stitches? The rescue I foster for does spays with internal stitches, and a cone isn't required unless the kitten is showing the surgical site too much attention or it starts to get inflamed. I've had 20 or so kittens come through my house, around half were female, and none have ever had a collar. If she has external stitches it probably is necessary though.

Our cat refused to wear a cone, suit or fabric donut after she was spayed. She did actually get a minor infection from licking the wound but it cleared up with antibiotics. If they won’t keep it on there’s absolutely nothing you can do - some cats just hate having anything round their neck. Mine still won’t even keep a collar on!

I have had two feral females spayed, no cones on either and both scaled the summerhouse walls as soon as they were released from the carrier. Both healed fine. I kept the older one indoors for 24 hours rather than 48 as she was desperate to get out.

I think her stitches are internal as the vet did not say to bring her back to get them removed just to take a photo on day 3 and day 7 to check her recovery and send it to them.

They said she was healing well after I sent the first photo -however she was extremely lethargic yesterday after taking a second dose of metacam - she had been fine the day before and eating and drinking but so sleepy yesterday - luckily she perked up a bit in the evening and ate - vet said as she was healing well - to stop the medication.

it’s amazing how much she has become such a part of my life 💖

My only ever female cat never had a cone, and took her own stitches out. She also ran off as soon as we got out of the car on our arrival home. She was fine.

Hello
Kitten was healing well and are normally first two days after spaying and even more prob due to having had to fast for the surgery. However the last two days she is only eating a tiny amount of food and that’s only when encouraged with lick e lix. Usually her bowl would be empty by morning overnight and similarly if I had gone to work it would be empty by the time I got home. ( she has access to dry food as well) I would say in the last day she has only eaten a palmful of wet and dry food with lick e lix.

m am wondering if I should take her back to vet? She seems to not be in any distress - some cat zoomies last night but less active than usual. She was never a big eater in the first place but a palmful of food a day seems very little.
