Catio - could this work for a very small paved back garden ?

Any thoughts welcome from people. Has anyone put a catio into a small paved garden ? Did it work ?

We have a small back garden, paved, with some raised beds. We have been wondering about a catio.

Pros -
Would mean our cat is not able to get into fights, or near traffic, or hurt himself on random things (we live near a disused factory and he has damaged himself on something from there, which )

Cons -
Already have a very small garden and this would mean there is effectively, no garden space for us to sit in easily.
It would need to fit round the back door of the house which would mean any workmen etc doing work at the back would need to come in through the catio
I'm not sure how stable it would be if resting on paving, rather than inset into earth
From the cat's point of view - currently he seems to love jumping up fences and racing through our neighbours' gardens - this would be putting him in a jail cell

Anything I've missed that occurs to you ?

How about doing an extreme catproofing job on the entire garden? That way the cat gets to stay safe, with the whole garden to use, and you also get the whole garden to use.

Thanks Allergic,
That's also an option to consider.

I should also have said that the cat is a bit of a Houdini and very strong/determined... If there was a weak spot, he would find it.

It will be fine. It’s exactly how mine is. It’s screws to the house wall so it’s fixed. If workmen need access via the catio, I just shut my cats in another room for the time. (We sit out in the catio ourselves and I dry my washing in there!)
Have a look at protectapets for ideas on pet proofing your entire garden. Catio groups on Facebook will give you catio ideas.
You can get someone to pet proof your garden or build a catio, but equally you can diy both options.

I have a catio because my cat can't free roam and he loves it. He has a tall cat tree in there, two waterproof houses and what I can only describe as a poo palace. He knows if he wants to go out, he sits in his travel basket and waits, we zip him up, take him out. He loves it

Look at Katzecure. Did my garden nearly ten years ago and best thing I ever did. They offer full installation or DIY.

Thanks all. I'll look up those ideas
