Cat milk

Am I just unlucky round here in finding cat milk difficult to get in the supermarkets? There seems to be less and less of it available. I've tried two shops today with no luck.

Home Bargains near me have both cat and kitten milk.

I buy mine in Sainsbury’s.

It is available on Amazon, I agree can be feast or famine in the shops

@Thewalrusandthecarpenter Sainsburys was one of the two shops I tried this morning. 😂

I know you can buy the stuff online, but I was out anyway and DH messaged me to say could I get cat milk while I was out as he'd just used up the last of what we had.

Anyhow, I remembered that the reason cats can't drink cows' milk is because they are lactose intolerant, so I bought some nice ordinary lactose-free milk in the supermarket instead. A whole litre of it for £1.35, which is a darn sight cheaper than cat milk. Tried it on one of the mob and he liked it. All of them drink water normally, but do like a drop of milk sometimes, and with four of them, those titchy cartons are expensive and don't last long.

@DrJonesIpresume that's an excellent idea! I only have the one cat - with the three tiny cardboard cartons that I get from Sainsbury’s, I can eke them out for three weeks or so as I don't give it to her every day. I guess with the big carton it has a three/five day limit? Please tell me I'm wrong and I'll adopt that approach in future.

@Thewalrusandthecarpenter Hi, I've just read what it says on the carton, which is to use within 5 days of opening. What with my four, they won't drink all of it in that time, but us humans can use up the rest of it.

For that price, it is worth a go. I don't think it is ideal for cats, but it is isn't harmful for them and is better than nothing. You might be able to freeze it, I don't know.
