Is Felix really that bad?

Hello all. We wanted to feed our little girl a healthier diet and after some research we opted for Untamed. I got the trial box for £8 and she seemed to love it! So I went for the month sub which is insanely expensive (£85 a month). But I thought it would be worth it.

She had it for about 2 weeks and she’s suddenly started turning her nose up at it. We gave her a sachet of her Felix food she was on before and she ate it all. She’s now refusing the Untamed.

My bank account doesn’t mind this but is Felix really as bad as I’ve heard? People say it’s like feeding your cat McDonalds every day.

She’s a healthy 2 year old with no belly problems and she loves her food!

Well my cat lasted 18 years on Felix and seemed happy enough...

MrsWidgerysLodger · 13/05/2024 11:47

We have two on Felix and they are happy healthy cats.

Julianne65 · 13/05/2024 11:57

Wow, 18 years? That does make me feel much better. Felix it is! The local cat charity is about to get a load of posh food for their kitties.

Ours won't eat the not As Good as It Looks, as it's not as good as it looks [groan] Sorry, we have to do that one every time in the shops as well.

Clarich007 · 13/05/2024 12:24

My 2 girls lived to be 20 and 21 and only ate Whiskas and Felix.

Heronatemygoldfish · 13/05/2024 12:50

We keep trying to move ours onto food with more meat and less grain. Are they having any of it? Nope. Felix McD's all the way... we tried to get the kitten on good stuff from the get-go. So of course he steals the others' food. Sigh.

Smartiepants79 · 13/05/2024 12:53

I have had 3 cats all live to be late teens with no health problems and they all ate nothing but felix.
Latest cat still gets felix!

Lemond1fficult · 13/05/2024 14:35

My last cat lived her whole 15 year life on Felix, with Purina One biscuits. We rehomed our current cat from an owner who was feeding her Encore. We kept her on it, but she was always hungry. Then I read the packaging and was horrified to see it's not a complete food. We put her on Felix AGAIL and she's so glossy and healthy now.

VeraForever · 13/05/2024 14:48

Our cat lived to 20 on Felix. No problems at all.

PangolinPan · 13/05/2024 14:56

I wouldn't have a problem with Felix but a couple of years ago they changed the formulation (allegedly removed artificial colours) and lots of cats reacted very badly to it. One of mine was badly sick the other wasn't affected. So that may be a reason it's got a bad rep.

Julianne65 · 13/05/2024 15:05

Thanks everyone! She loves it so it stays! I really wish I hadn't forked out £80+ though 😆

Mine has tasty shreds (Felix). She loves it. Other cats have had it too and lived to 17, 13 and 5.

Tdcp · 13/05/2024 15:07

One of mine won't eat anything else, she has literally gone on hunger strike for days before now because I've bought a different food... she's 10 and has had no health problems and is ideal weight :) My boy cat is on it as well, he's 3, no health issues and ideal weight also!

amylou8 · 13/05/2024 15:14

I find the knack with mine is to rotate brands, by the time the get to the end of a box of something they're bored of it. They have felix, Whiskers and the supermarket brands, never anything expensive. The eldest is 17 and still going strong.

fieldsofbutterflies · 13/05/2024 15:48

Any wet food is better than no wet food, IMO.

Mine have always been fed supermarket wet food - at the moment they're on Sheba but in the past it's been Felix and Whiskas. Never had any issues with any of them.

I do give them a decent quality dry though (Scrumbles).

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/05/2024 17:45

Mine have lived on Felix AGAIL for years. Last two lived to 17 and 20. Current cats are a pair of 13 year olds and a pair of 6 year olds which (fingers crossed) seem very healthy.
They do supplement their diets with a fair amount of wildlife and any human food they can snaffle though.
