Grateful for inspiration for Catio design ideas. To cover the front door and extend out on one side. Old house, so fairly classic. Approx dimensions 2m out x 3m along. Sloping roof if possible as we need a porch anyway so will subtly add some shelter over the door. Will self build. Thanks!

Thank you so much @Breadcat24 for the great inspo.

I am thinking of combining a large version of these with the angles of this carport. Will make it large enough to have a table and chairs, so it has the added benefit of being usable for us and giving the cat plenty of space.

Apologies for the name change, must have a different sign in on my phone and am out of battery.

I am impressed by the huge price difference between the Amazon one and the Etsy one, when they look so similar!
Are you building your own @Catioporch or getting a local carpenter to build it?
You know you have to post a pic when done!

I had mine built by a local guy who I found on eBay. He was really helpful. He also made us a door to fit over our front door so we can have the front door open in the summer without the cats escaping.
Cost me £500.
I've put fake grass in the bottom.
The cats love it!

Will do @Pudmyboy , though it will take a while as we will self build. Also looking at cat proofing part of the garden so this cat can be out with us.

That's great @Blueuggboots , your cats look so content basking in the sun. We plan for ours to be over the front door, like an xxl porch, with the benefit of being to leave the house open in the summer.

@Catioporch put catio into Facebook and lots of groups come up. Have a browse, (with a cup or tea and a cat in your lap because you will be looking for hours!) lots of lovely ideas just waiting for you.

If you have the funds, may I suggest having a catio with at least part of it roofed over. Ours has a polycarbonate roof - allows light in but is also fab for drying laundry all year round. I also am sometime allowed to sit in a chair in there, and enjoy watching the birds with the cats. Be careful about having a catio at the front of the house as you might need pp - especially if you have the ‘gift’ of one of ‘those’ neighbours.

Thank you @Alphabet1spaghetti2 Will do this evening. Yes will add a roof as the panels are cheap so don’t add much to the overall cost and having it double as a porch will be nice (and convince DH). Hoping the neighbors won’t notice as the house it side on to the road and behind large solid gates. It is a risk but will stay within the size permitted for a shed and hope it works out/adjust later if not.

@Catioporch fab!! I have just installed four hammocks in our catio today. M
i did have a small thought - as it’s going over your front door - think about access for posties/amazon etc. they don’t always think ‘watch the cat’ and can leave doors open. It might be wise to relocate the door bell or install a post box/parcel box outside the catio. Think about catches and latches that people can fiddle with and let the cat escape. Ours has latches both sides, but are very tricky to open if you are on the wrong side, for this reason. We have a hidden spoon which you have to use to open it from outside if I’ve locked from the inside!

That sounds wonderful @Alphabet1spaghetti2

Thank you so much for the warning re deliveries. Will definitely think of a plan to make it more secure.
