My cat has been missing for a week now.

I'm beside myself with worry! He went out last weekend in the night and hasn't been seen since. It's like he's disappeared off the face of the earth!

We've been out looking everywhere, done a leaflet drop, called the vets, left out cat litter, clothes, hoover contents etc.

I've had to take a step back from the searching as I'm finding it really mentally draining. I feel terrible.

I've always had cats and never lost one before. It's so sad!! The weather has been terrible too!

I hope your cat turns up safe & well . There was a cat reported missing near us , turns out it was trapped in a greenhouse 5 doors away. Don't give up .

urbanbuddha · 29/04/2024 07:10

Yes, it’s worth knocking and asking neighbours to check sheds etc. And dawn and dusk are the best times for going looking for him. I hope he’s back with you soon.

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 29/04/2024 07:10

Blast Facebook and Nextdoor as well xx

My neighbours beautiful cat is a wanderer. He usually returns after a week. They get a call from someone in the village (he is renowned for wandering) and they go to fetch him, he happily jumps in the car to go home. The longest he's been 'away' is 13 weeks so please don't give up hope.

BlackCat007 · 29/04/2024 08:34

Fingers crossed for a safe return 🤞

CherryBombe · 29/04/2024 14:45

Thank you all!

Just noticed the typo in the title haha. Should be a 7 not a 5.

He's usually an indoor cat but busted out on sunday night!

I've just been laminating a load of posters to put up! Just need to feel like I'm doing something. Losing hope a bit now!

Fingers crossed for a safe and soon return 🤞🏼

Just to check: is he chipped and are his chip details up to date? Does his insurance have provisions for finding him if he's lost?

Breadcat24 · 29/04/2024 16:09

Hope he comes back soon.

Yes he is chipped and neutered!

Yes there is provision on his insurance but it was quite complicated to claim so will maybe look into that again at another time!

Check your chip details are up to date and also check with the council as they sometimes pick up cats who’ve been killed on the road and they are supposed to check for chips but you never know . Also check in with all the local vets and cat rescues if you’ve not done so . 🤞🏻you find him soon .

LoreleiG · 29/04/2024 17:25

Google lost cat behaviour - an indoor only cat who has escaped will usually be hiding nearby during the day and will only come out at dawn and dusk to look for food. You could try putting some hot and therefore smelly tuna out at 5am and 6pm and lying in wait. (I speak from experience).

He's only young so details are def upto date! I notified the chip company as well that he's lost!

There is about 10 thousand cats on the area so they'd all appear haha

Yes you would have to shoo off some other cats but if your cat is hungry and nearby it will probably come and investigate even an empty bowl.

CherryBombe · 30/04/2024 07:30

I was out in my dressing gown at 5am with some hot tuna.

Not a dickie bird. Even my neighbours cat look at me in disgust. I must be the issue haha.

I did tell him to find my cat and bring him home though! Haha

4am is best time to go out calling you cats name. Take food with you.

Shiningout · 30/04/2024 09:13

I lost my cat once, we searched fields, my dad was out all night looking for weeks. She was in a barn a couple of roads away hiding as there had been a storm. Don't give up hope keep putting up posters and look for farms/barns

fieldsofbutterflies · 30/04/2024 11:49

Ask everyone to check their gardens, sheds and garages - that's where mine always end up when they're lost.

Floralnomad · 02/05/2024 10:20

Any news @CherryBombe ?

Hello sorry for no updates.

We think we've found him nearby but don't have a definite ID. He has been visiting a lovely lady about 1/2 a mile away. She is trying to gain his trust. he's been living wild for almost 2 weeks now so is not proving easy. If it's him, she said he looks healthy and is obvs getting food somewhere. He has some distinctive features but we need to see his face to get a proper id! She's going to try and snap a picture next time he visits.

I went to the area the other night and I think I saw him but the area isn't really a nice one to be wandering around in on your own in the dark so I've not been back at night for a few days as had no one to go with.

Also hoping with the nicer weather he might be out and about more.

Hopefully it will be him then 🤞🏻

Have you found your cat yet @CherryBombe ?
