What sort of rope

I want to wind rope round a fixed pole in the garden to make a cat scratching post. Does anyone have a clue what sort of rope I need to buy? Looking on Amazon (though may buy from an DIY store if appropriate) and it’s confused me! Thanks.

Sisal rope is the one usually on scratching posts

I bought some in a pet shop (Pets Corner). I can’t remember what it was called, I’m afraid.

Oh yes, sisal

Brilliant, lots of sisal about. Any advice on thickness of rope? The pole is about 5ft and is metal. How high up should I go? Do I need to glue it on?

I would take the length of your cat & multiply that by at least 2 to get the height - they can be rather stretchy when they reach up! Then they like to reach even further to get maximum extension of the shoulder joint - personally I think that's them just showing off.....

You definitely need to glue it on as firmly as you can. It is usually glued on the posts of cat trees, and mine managed to get it hanging in swags after a couple of years.

You are being a good kitty slave though, doing this for your overlord.
