Ideas to block cat flap

Hi,

Does anyone have any suggestions of something to cover a cat flap?

Our cat has taken to bringing creatures in regularly at night - alive, so we are spending far too much time in the night chasing after them.

We need to start keeping him in at night. We have a locking cat flap but our cat is able to break through and has destroyed a couple of cat flaps, so there’s no point locking them.

We’ve put boxes against the cat flap but he can push all but a stack of the very heaviest massive boxes filled with stuff, and I’m not able to move these to and from the cat flap every day.

Has anyone seen a cover that would fit around a cat flap? I’m thinking that he wouldn’t be able to push through that or pull it if it fits well enough?

Any suggestions welcome - thanks!

We once made a cover out of cardboard lined with bubble wrap that snugly fit around the sticking-out part of our Sureflap. Kept the cats in and the draft out. Eventually the blighters worked out how to get it off, but I'm sure some duct tape could solve that!

I shove a bit of hardboard in front of ours. Does the job!

There's an older thread about this that popped up again recently

Thanks both, and thanks for linking that other thread - the link on there contains exactly the sort of thing I had in mind! Shame they’re £28 (more than the cost of the cat flap we have!) but it would be worth every penny I feel!

Will get the cardboard/ bubble wrap/ tape out for until I can get my hands on one!
