The litter tray

Sheba - spot the difference!

I'm a relatively new cat owner and have figured out that Alan (Tuxedo aged about 7) doesn't like:

All wet food types with fish
Tuna (!)
Tinned mackerel
So basically hates fish!

Any human food fresh cooked chicken etc.

What he does love is:
Sheba chicken/turkey flakes in GRAVY (oh and cheddar cheese). He likes Lidl complete cat food too (chicken only).

Did my shop yesterday and bought a new supply of Sheba fresh and fine, but when I went to give Alan his tea it kind of plopped out instead of me having to force it. Chopped it up a bit and Alan took one lick and turned away in disgust!
I'd bought Sheba in jelly not the beloved gravy.
I can see why though...

The packets are nearly identical! So annoying!

Leave it out - he'll eat it if he's hungry.

I have!
He'll probably eat it if it's dried and nasty looking!

Ours are the other way round, won’t touch the gravy.

Get back to the shops

I've written to Sheba to complain about their too similar packaging.

Oh Alan! He doesn’t expect much and yet the disappointment is so acute 🤣

That is definitely too similar packaging. I’d have done the exact same thing.

Only one option available to you. Back to the shops for more of his accepted food 😁

...And another thing, why do they always put mixed varieties in packets?!
More often than not Alan has preferred only the chicken and not the turkey (but he does eat it eventually).

They could sell little individual tester pouches which would reduce food waste. Though I guess cats do go off things anyway the fickle creatures that they are!

Yes he just looked up at me, stuck his tail up and walked off! Haughty little man!

There are hedgehogs in the garden so I'll feed them the jelly Fresh and Fine. At least someone will appreciate it!

These are the select slices not fresh and fine but if he likes them, they're a good deal (and in gravy!)

Mine will only eat these or fresh and fine

I know! I've failed as a cat slave!

He's now giving me side eye and blaming me for the rain!

I feel your pain. Penelope will eat any variety of Sheba flakes. She will not touch the Sainsburys own brand. Or PAH own brand flakes. That are in a bigger pack and significantly cheaper. I have no idea how she can tell. Since as far as I know. She can't read!

She's really messy with the jelly, so I prefer to give her the gravy one as it stays in the bowl not the floor!

Alan is so handsome and obviously deserves better than jelly. Do better, human.

Mine miraculously love all the Sheba finest flakes but if I try and give them any other brand in gravy, they look at me like I've just offered them some sprouts Grin

I did discover that our youngest likes cucumber though - he actually chose it over some prawns yesterday!

Ha yes - I do wonder what they put in them! Maybe a spot of catnip! Alan goes mad for that!

The cucumber is interesting! Prawns did not pass the test here either!

Tried the Sainsbury's too in the teeny little tins. It was a nope even though it was in gravy. To my sense of smell it was by far the nicest!

He's had prawns before but he was shouting at me while I was chopping up the cucumber so I offered him some and he wolfed it down - weirdo Grin

@InTheUpsideDownToday they are so odd aren't they? Simba is orange so I've always just put it down to the lack of brain cells, lol.
