Lone cat being terrorised

I have one cat, who is eight years old. He has never lived with another pet. Lately two cats have started coming on to our patio and right up close to the house and sitting by the cat flap and sitting on the windowsills.

My cat gets extremely upset by the close proximity of these two random cats. I'm talking about earsplitting screeching at two and three in the morning and waking up the whole household.

My cat is no longer happy and relaxed as he used to be, he seems totally stressed out and he spends hours and hours just sitting at the window or cat flap staring outside, terrified, constantly on the lookout for these other cats.

My question is how can I stop these two random cats from coming near my house, without doing anything that will put my own cat off his home?

Following as the same thing is happening to my cat and I don’t think there is a solution!

Same thing in our house. The neighbour's cat terrorises my cat and I can tell he's often too scared to go outside now. I'm not sure there's a solution.

You could try some of that film on the windows that stops him being able to see out, and removing the cat flap (I know that's drastic though).

The other even more drastic solution is to cat proof your garden so that he's the only one with access to that space.
