Another cat? If/when to get?

Friends of my neighbours have got a litter of kittens looking for homes.
We have 2 dogs and a 1 year old cat.
Would we be mad to take one?

No you wouldn't be mad to take one.
Happy to help 🤣

And now being serious.
What sort of dogs? They presumably get on with your existing cat - are you sure they'd be safe with a kitten?

The dogs and the cat currently get on. What happens if the new kitten doesn't get on with current cat or dogs?

I'd get a kitten in a heartbeat if I thought my existing animals would be okay with a new addition.

We have shiba inu s. They were indifferent to the cat until it got bigger now they all play together and the cat grooms them. They all sleep together on the sofa.

Generally the cats will sort themselves out over time.

My concern would be with ensuring the dogs don't see the kitten as prey. Introductions will be key, but if you have any doubts about your dogs (do they chase rabbits etc?) then you need to take that into account.

They were fine with the current cat. Confused but play with him.
We have a male cat neutered would another male work?

Another male should be fine
You could consider two kittens from the litter. They'll then keep each other amused and give the incumbents more of a rest.
