Cable Chewing - Argh

Help - how can I stop our cat chewing cloth covered / braided cables? Just discovered that she has chewed through DS's mouse lead and headphone cable - about £150 of damage to add to several Apple cables and some attempts to chomp an Anglepoise lamp cord :(

I've seen bitter apple spray advertised but reviews are mixed. I don't want everything to have to be wrapped in silver foil, if possible... if you've found anything that works, please let me know.

Well for entirely other reasons ours moved onto a new home as an only cat and he stopped of his own accord!

He just uses to do own Swift chomp through.

You can buy cable protectors off Amazon.

Cable protectors for anything that stays plugged in and things like computer mouse / headphones need to be put away after use .

  1. put things away. Cable protectors are a brill idea.
  2. chewy toys.
  3. hard chewy food / treats.

2 & 3 apply to the cat only! This worked for me, one of my cats was a book chewer.

Mine is a chewer of those thin plastic cables. He's chewed through my headset for work which went down well with my boss who hates cats Blush

No advice, I just have to keep everything out the way. He also eats plastic, including my blood test bag...

Our entire house was cabled with cable protector. My previous cat would eat any cable - including things that are plugged in and we heard the electricity crackle as she enjoyed her snack. No idea how she went on until she was 19. But we were so sick of the damage that she caused that we bought what felt like miles of cable cover and blitzed the house. Good luck and solidarity!

Thanks eyeryone! I have bought a whole load of cable protector - fingers crossed :)
