The litter tray

Moved house…pooping and peeing troubles

Hi all,

I moved house about a week ago, I have 3 cats and all are settling in nicely.

Our middle cat usually goes outdoors to poop/pee but as we have moved to a new area we are hesitant to let her have free rein outside just yet.

We have 2 litter trays available but middle cat is not using them, she is pooping and peeing on the floor. This is not so much an issue but we are starting to get carpets laid and she is making a beeline for the new carpets and is looking for a place to poop/pee.

Any tips to help her with this?

Sorry to hear this - not the housewarming you want! I’m sure others with more experience will be along soon, but when our outdoor, litter tray-refusing cat had to be crated recently, the nurse recommended we try sprinkling soil on top of the litter. It worked a treat and we were gradually able to reduce and then remove the soil altogether. I realise your issue may be more about being unsettled by the move, but it might be worth a try. Crossing my fingers for you!

You need more litter trays - two isn't enough for three cats.
