Finlay had his 6th and final session of hydrotherapy this week - all parties agreed he was not co operating enough to make it worth continuing - the more strength he has regained in his back legs the more danger we were all in from him trying to escape the dreaded tank!
Physiotherapist came to visit today and is pleased enough with progress to agree he can go out for brief supervised spells over the Easter weekend and if that does not cause too much pain or starts limping etc then we can let him out properly - I’m bizarrely excited it will be lovely to see him out in the garden again!

That's great news. I did wonder whether the risk of him injuring himself trying to escape was worth it!

OMG it’s not gone well!
Let Finlay out for a little play this morning before breakfast - he didn’t stray far and as I had to go out was soon persuaded back in with breakfast
Let him out again around 5.30 again without food - did not return and by 7 I was getting worried - tracker showed he wasn’t far away but gone dark so sent out a search party armed with dreamies
Finn was stuck on the garage roof again!!! I tried to get him down by standing on garden chair and using a plastic panel as a ramp but he was having none of it - so had to go in search of a ladder by the time I came back with ladder he was just leaping down - I’m now stressing in case he’s hurt himself and set back his recovery
An hour later he has eaten, washed, purred and is now looking angelic!
My nerves can’t cope with this DP is coming over first thing tomorrow to build a cat ladder or ramp and naughty Finlay is locked in for the night 😳

Wow he puts you through the emotional wringer! Good job he is so handsome!
You know you have to post a pic of him using his ladder....

We are not convinced he’s used the ladder yet - although the dreamies are gone but could be another neighbourhood cat
Garage/shed is rather dilapidated but Finlay enjoys hunting amongst the ivy and honeysuckle - pic of home made cat ladder included

Finlay was back with us on the Lego last night after hours outside
Keeping him in to rest tonight but we go back to work tomorrow so will unlock and unblock the cat flap and hope he’s sensible!!

Impressive home made cat ladder. I would like to see a photo of Finlay using it…

@Iamacatslave so would I! Might borrow a camera off someone to see if we can catch him in action
Tonight we’ve opened the cat flap and there’s been a constant flip flap - it’s like he can’t quite believe it and needs to keep making sure he’s actually allowed out
Crashed out briefly on me around 6pm then off out again

how is Finlay getting on has he been out without accident? Such a brave kitty.

@Breadcat24 Finlay likes to pretend he is stuck on the roof and had not been seen using the cat ladder as yet

Took Finlay to vet for post op check as was worried he was over exerting himself as occasionally seems overtired n flops down - not a limp as such but sometimes seems to be a bit stiff
Vet very kindly told me to stop worrying and that although he will never be the same as if he hadn’t had the accident - they have no concerns

So pleased to read this last update @JaceLancs - you must feel relieved. Finlay looks super chilled and blissfully unaware of all the stress he’s put your through. Must say it’s reassuring for me to read, too, as Kleo is allowed outside again in a couple of weeks and while she is whizzing round the house like a mad thing, she does occasionally look a bit stiff on that back leg. Like you say, not limping but a slightly unusual gait. I was wondering if we should keep her indoors longer, but I think she will probably take an axe to us in bed if we don’t let her out soon!

@KittenKaboodle very pleased to hear Kleo is doing so well - I now can’t get a picture out of my head of her or Finn wielding an axe over either of us!
