Hi all,
My cat was found to be hyperthyroid before Christmas. His levels were about 180 instead of between 60-80, which I was told was ideal. He was prescribed meds - 2.5mg of liquid meds twice daily.
A month later I took him back for further bloods and his level had fallen to 13. Obviously that was far too low, so I was told to reduce the meds to 2.0mg twice daily.
Today I've taken him back about 6 weeks later for further bloods, and his levels are now at 12.
The vet is going to discuss with colleagues, and has told me to reduce meds to 1.5mg twice daily in the meantime. She'll contact me when she's had a chance to try to work out whether something else might be going on.
He had extended bloods taken today, btw, and I was told that all the other things they'd be looking out for seemed to be normal.
Does anybody have any idea why his levels are still falling even though I've reduced his meds as instructed 6 weeks ago? He's very much not himself, btw. Sometimes it's as though he's in a dream: confused, anxious, doesn't want to play or even to scratch me, which he always enjoyed in the past.
Many thanks for any input.
