Flea collar with the quick action clasp/plastic thing

Where are they all?

Found hers on the stairs earlier, stubbonly ripped off. Not by the clasp I might add, the collar had come out of the buckle bit that goes onto the clasp

So I stop off at Pets at Home and they only have one type of collar, not what I wanted really, its luminous yellow and while I do want a reflective one I didnt want her looking like a road worker

Now Ive Opened it and its not the quick release clasp, its got a metal buckle

So I look in amazon and find thats all they seem to have also

Every supermarket Ive looked in (before going to pets), didnt have any

Why is it so hard to find a flea collar these days?

I wouldn't put any sort of collar on my cat tbh. I use the spot on flea treatment instead

AnnaMagnani · 24/03/2024 16:49

The flea collars don't actually work anymore though. So there probably isn't a market for fancy ones - the people who would buy them are all getting Bravecto from the vet.

JackieQueen · 24/03/2024 16:50

I found some in Asda, I dont usually use them but we were getting desperate as the spot on wasn't working. The collars didn't work either so now we have to pay a fortune to the vets to get something that actually works!😺

I do not want to end up in A+E

Spot on, not an option

We had a flea issue last year after not using the collar as I left it off, thinking they dont work.

I now have one in the hoover and on her, we were fine once I treated the house and put the collar on her

This year I will be treating the house in advance in spring (indorex I use)

She wont have spot on, goes mad, absolutely mental, wont eat the food version and wont be put in a box to go to the vet. I can keep it at bay using my method hopefully, if not then obviously I will have to think again

But I just want the easy release clasp.

Finding your dcat in such a supposed safe collar hanging from a tree wasn't pleasant.. Vet bill was costly as she had torn all under her front leg. Grab dcat in a towel. Apply flea spot on. Job done.

There are still a couple on Amazon that have the plastic clasps.

We got a box of them from the vet. She ordered them in as one of ours can’t be given the spot on either (I ended up with 5 stitches last time it was tried)

AwkwardPaws27 · 24/03/2024 16:58

If you really want a collar rather than a spot on, the Seresto collars are good.
They are about £30 but last up to 8 months, & also cover against ticks.

Floralnomad · 24/03/2024 17:00

To add to the previous post the Seresto collars have a ratchet release system and would break ( apparently) if enough force was applied . I’ve never used one on a cat but the dog one is very effective

I will investigate these

She isnt talking to me now, running off when I approach because I put the new one on her and had to put it right over her face. Didnt go down well
