This afternoon my wonderful old tabby princess breathed her last here at home. It was very sudden and although her condition has been medically managed for a while she became much more unwell unexpectedly today. She hated the vet. She loved being held by me.
I am going to bury her alongside her sister tomorrow.
almost seventeen years of nothing really but love, head butts, chicken thrives and webbox.

she is irreplaceable and loved always.

afaloren · 18/03/2024 20:56

I’m so sorry. Sounds like you gave her a wonderful life.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/03/2024 21:11

Sounds like she had a great life with you. And a peaceful end. With people who loved her. What could be better than that.

DirectionToPerfection · 18/03/2024 21:13

I'm sorry OP, it's always so hard to lose them but what a great age she got to.

Pixiedust1234 · 18/03/2024 21:45

I have no words that will help you. She sounds utterly loved and loving Flowers💔

freeandfierce · 18/03/2024 21:50

I'm so sorry. Sounds like you both loved each other very much and you gave her a wonderful life 💐

Whiskeypowers · 18/03/2024 21:52

Thank you so much everyone. It has really helped me feel less alone. The two younger ones are looking for her tonight. I hope she knows how much she was so loved.

I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️
it sounds like she had a lovely life, she knew the love and happiness of a nice family xxx

LoreleiG · 18/03/2024 23:50

I am so sorry. She sounds to have been so wonderfully loved.

Whiskeypowers · 19/03/2024 09:10

Thank you. The other two are milling around looking for her this morning. I dreamed of her last night then I woke up and remembered she had gone and was too sad to even cry.

I'm so sorry Whiskey. It is true what they say - time can be a great healer. But you do have to give yourself that time. I'm two years on and some days it still gets to me that she's no longer here (she was a very special girl, a one off). The little beggers know how to sneak into our hearts, that's for sure.

Some people find it helpful to talk about them, their quirks, their naughtiness, their sweetness and share photos, would that help you? Otherwise please accept my hugs that I'm sending your way ❤

CatChant · 19/03/2024 10:46

I am so sorry. It is always hard to lose them but she went peacefully with the person she loved, after a long, good life, and that is a mercy for any living being. But, of course, you will miss her very much.

She knew how much you loved her. Be kind to yourself.

MoonWoman69 · 19/03/2024 11:00

Oh bless you, I am so sorry for your loss and sending hugs. I had to have my beloved Bob unexpectedly pts last Monday. A week has gone by and I'm still not coping well. My little one, Spooky, keeps looking for him. She didn't know him long, but clearly knows he's gone. As do the visiting cats.
It's the hardest part of being a pet lover, but at least they had a good life with us and were very much loved. Nobody can take your happy memories. 🤗🤗🤗❤❤❤

Canthave2manycats · 19/03/2024 19:04

So sorry about your furbabies @Whiskeypowers and @MoonWoman69. It's truly awful when you lose them. We just have to try and focus on the love and joy they brought into our lives while they were with us xx

MoonWoman69 · 19/03/2024 21:45

@Canthave2manycats That's very true. I burst into tears this morning out of nowhere! It just suddenly hit me again that he'd gone. It's awful.
We were adopted by a kitten a month before Bob passed. Asked round, nobody knew whose she is, put posts on social media, local area apps. Absolutely nothing! I named her Spooky. I had a thought in my head after I lost Bob, but my friend said it out in the open. That she thought that Spooky had been "sent" to ease our pain. And I very much believe that. He tolerated her, which was highly unusual, as he wasn't very tolerant of many other cats. There are a lot in our crescent. And she has helped a lot, it doesn't make me miss him any less though. But she's a lovely distraction ❤

Mumsgirls · 19/03/2024 22:27

Many of us have been where you are, I was just before Xmas.
Hurts so much, helps when they have had a long much loved life and you can hold them as they go peacefully.
She was a lucky puss and fell on her feet
Like you I was helped by the kindness on here
Hope you are ok

campingwithdoggo · 19/03/2024 22:30

The love you had for your cat just shines out in your wording

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 19/03/2024 22:34

Bless her and bless you.Bet the little spud had the best life with you xx

Whiskeypowers · 20/03/2024 10:16

Thanks everyone
@MoonWoman69 I am so sorry to read that you also lost a much loved cat. Sending love.

the house feels so empty without my little old lady. I hope she’s found her sister and they are together again in that lovely place that exists; where I believe they go 💫💕

So sorry for your loss @Whiskeypowers , but what a lovely end to a lovely life. I hope she finds her sister, and you find solace eventually in the many happy memories of your time together 💐

@MoonWoman69 I can still cry for cats I had years ago!

I remember you posting about Spooky! It's a comfort, isn't it?

Back in 2007/8, I lost all three cats inside 11 months. Two were sisters and one was 3 months off 17 when she died, and I lost her sister 6 months after her. The following March I went to feed 14 year old Oscar to find him dead. I was so heartbroken and vowed never to have another cat! Within weeks this wee bedraggled cat, who could barely meow, started appearing in our garden. Oscar would never have allowed him! Well, you can guess the rest! He morphed into our dearly loved Cat (we weren't giving him a name, because he wasn't ours!!) who passed away 2 years ago.

I would say Bob fell on every one of his paws when he started his life with you x

MoonWoman69 · 25/03/2024 01:36

@Canthave2manycats I am so sorry to hear that. I honestly don't know how you coped with all that 🤗
Yes Bob appeared when I needed him, was greatly loved and cherished while we had him and now Spooky has done the same. And I think your username says it all!
Here's to our cats ❤

It breaks my heart still, but we have moved on from Maggie, Ozzy and Oscar (and Ginger before them who was a contemporary of the other three but contracted FIV and died when he was just 10), and Cat (who we still miss enormously) to our three love bugs, Sadie, Gracie and Teddy xx

Who obviously don't replace our lost babies but have totally lifted our hearts!
