Cat urinating around house

Hi all,

We have DCat aged 4. In the last 2 months DCat has been weeing in spots and on things at random. Litter is available, back door always open into garden. We have 1 elderly cat and 1 dog who are not new to her. She has known cat from when she lived here from a kitten and dog the last 2 years.

She has weed on our DDs book bag, kids bed, draining board in kitchen 🤢 and went to wee on school bag a few more times.

It is sporadic and inconsistent. She is well otherwise.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Is her litter too rough? They like the fine ultraclumping ones best not woodchip or silica. That or she’s got a recurrent uti. They don’t show normal symptoms with those they’ll just wee everywhere.

Mine weed all over the bed one day and it was a uti.

Hi there. Thank you for that. Maybe we take her back to the vets then. What did they give your cat for it?

Litter is the same too so not that.

Is something stressing her? We've a girlcat who wees on the sofa in the family room if something upsets her.

Is she spayed?

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 11/03/2024 06:12

She needs to see the vet. It could be a UTI or an issue with her kidneys. I assume she's spayed?

Mine is currently doing this. We took her to the vets last Tuesday, they diagnosed a UTI and gave an antibiotic injection. But I am still coming down every morning to find wee on the floor.

I was hoping that the antibiotics would have kicked in by now.

Are you cleaning up the wee properly with an enzyme spray?

Unfortunately once cats start urinating outside the tray it can be incredibly hard to get them to stop as it becomes a habit.

Our cat had tablet antibiotics which I crushed into her food. I refuse the injections now.

After the antibiotics I used Cystease sprinkled over her wet food for a couple of weeks to support her bladder. It was caused by stress but they usually are.

How wow guys, thanks so much for all replies.

Yes, she is spayed
I am thinking it may be stress-related
Nothing has changed in her life really but I looked at her fur this morning and it's a bit scruffy- she's longhaired - I wonder if her skin issue is back. She had it about 2 years ago sadly.

And we use a very thorough cleaning process with specialist stuff to sort her messes out too.

She pooed upstairs this morning which is a first! Back door wide open as usual. sigh
