Kitchen worktops and cats

Our little rescue cat is pretty good. Uses her tray (well except for 2 instances where she peed on our bed so she is now banned from that room), uses a scratching post. But she likes to jump up on the kitchen worktops. It's almost an obsession.

I don't particularly mind as we are very clean. We don't keep food around and everything is put in the outside bins quickly. However DH does mind and is getting pretty annoyed at her. We have tried tin foil, grapefruit spray on the surfaces, picking her up, clapping, saying NO loudly. She doesn't care!

Do we just have to accept that she wants to sit on these surfaces all the time? Has anyone found a magical solution?

She has a cat tree she uses all the time and is allowed on the sofas and chairs.

We have 1 cat who is obsessed with the kitchen island. He jumps up and flops over as soon as anyone comes into the kitchen. He doesn't go on any of the other worktops... Our other 2 cats (living) and 1 deceased never pay/paid a blind it of notice to the island. Island cat is also obsessed with white sheets... if you move a duvet to reveal white sheets, he's in his happy place and will flop over and snuggle down.

When my cat did it at first I wasn't that bothered until one day I found bits of litter on the work top , blurgh! So fir the next two weeks or so I filled some large tinfoil roasting trays with about a inch of water and balanced them along the edge of the work top so when he jumped up he would upturn the tray and he , it and the water would end up on the floor.

It was a pain to set up and clean up after but it cured the problem.
