Do we keep cat in before move?

I know we need to keep her in for several weeks after the move but should we keep her in for some time beforehand to so she ‘forgets’ our current surroundings?

We will be using a cattery for the days surrounding the move but not sure how many yet.

Thanks :)

@sickofbeingashitshow

thats something I've never heard before!

it wouldn't work anyway, cats can find their way home years later.

last time I moved with cats I'd planned to keep them in for 2-3 weeks. As outdoor cats they had other ideas & drove us all fucking mental!! My Dad even went & bought a harness & lead so he could take them in the garden (we tried that - girl cat was fine, but boy cat was a disaster). After a week my Dad said he was either letting them out or moving out (of his own house!! We were staying with them). So I let them
out after a week & they were fine.

i don't know what the current recommendation is, but....

No, as @FabFebHalfTerm said, won't make any difference.
And they will be stuck indoors/in a cattery for weeks, so let them have their freedom whilst possible.
Except for maybe the day before the move in case they go hiking and get lost :-)

No, it won't make any difference.

Thank you I won’t bother with that then!

I am dreading having to keep her in at new place but there is a room downstairs we can use just for her for a while if needbe before we let her have run of whole house.
