Flea treatment advice

Can you use another flea treatment alongside Advantage spot on? I’m convinced my cat still has fleas after putting advantage on him beginning of the week. I can’t bear the thought of him still having fleas.

No.
Maybe get a cat flea comb and give them a good brush?

If your pet has an infestation of fleas and your first treatment doesn't work, it's important that you do not apply another treatment before the four-week mark, as it may lead to an overdose.

Maybe use inforex in your house to kill off fleas in your carpets/soft furnishings

If a cat is already infested, it takes time for the treatment to work, as long as you've de-flead your house as well, they should die off soon.

You can use these, they apparently kill live fleas

Thanks everyone- I’ve got a flea comb & been using it but haven’t found anything.
I can’t even find any flea dirt in his white patches.

@JlL2013 I’ve got these in the cupboard but I don’t think you can use them along with a spot on. I can’t seem to locate any info online to advise

I use flea tablets between spot on applications if needed. I usually leave a few days between them to be on the safe side if they're still scratching, but my 2 cats have been fine. The tablets work very well, very quickly.

Setyoufree · 11/02/2024 07:18

We switched to a monthly tablet rather than spot on. I don't think the spot on stuff was very effective for us, and it was the vet prescribed stuff even and still wasn't working. Since we switched to tablet I think it's been better.

@blaringcube @Setyoufree thank you.

Do you think it’s ok to give him one then?

I'd talk to your vet, mine was really helpful when I was in the same situation

I'm not sure on the rules on timing, I know you have to be careful though
