Is he fat?

I'm attempting to get used to not having an elderly cat that ate 754 times a day and still weighed nothing

New boy, I'm finding it hard to tell as he has a distinct primordial pouch and he's a big cat - tall, long, big frame
Weighed last at about 6kg. Last pic is of him next to a sort of standard height cat to show his frame
He does have a waist from above but the side view is kind of hard to work out from the pouch Blush

Wet food in the morning then dry (light food) as he vomits if he has dry before wet Hmm

Very handsome big boy! He looks fine to me.

He's perfect!

A bit on the chonky side, but it might be winter weight (nearly all of mine have been leaner in the warmer months as they're more active outdoors). The pouch is completely normal, even skinny cats have them!

No, I don't think he's fat. My parents cat on the other hand.....

Freeasabird76 · 09/02/2024 03:23

Positively svelte next to my chunk 🤗

That middle one looks just like mine - I like them a wee bit solid, but not tubby though.

He looks fine but I wouldn't want him to get any bigger if he was mine.

I say that as the owner of a cat who recently weighed in at 8.5kg Blush he is fat and is on a diet but he has arthritis an it's hard to get him going when his movement is limited.

He looks about the same as Boycat did when the vet pronounced him "perfect" - obviously before the CKD. Boycat also had a rather large primordial pouch, and was a little over 6kg. If anything from your pictures, Paws looks the fatter of the 2!

Vet told me if you can just feel the ribs without pressing, that's fine. He's turning out to be a fine figure of a cat isn't he? 😁

I couldn't have asked for a better cat (except for the random plastic eating)
He's perfectly happy to be cuddled all day

You should have seen the face when the diet food appeared Grin

No, he's not fat. My boy cat used to have 3 pouches of food a day, and dry food available at all times. He weighed 12lbs. Your boy is gorgeous.
