Flea products that actually work

Are there any non prescription flea products that work for cats ?

And what prescription products have people found effective ?

Well we have found that the spot one (both prescribed and stuff like advance/frontline) only work on some cats. As I have many cats, the only way to keep fleas at bay is spraying the house with informed every two months, flea collars on them all and weekly flea combing. What's annoying is there's only one cat who goes outside (the rest stay in by choice) and he's one of the ones that the spot on doesn't work. He obviously goes somewhere where there are fleas so he's the one bringing them back. Bloody big buggers too!

Think Advantage is supposed to work OK
My cats have stronghold plus from the vet

FoulWrinkledWitch · 08/02/2024 20:49

Felpreva, from the vet. Every three months, combination treatment for fleas and worms. Seems to be effective on my cats.

My vet now only sells Bravecto as the others dont work. Non-prescription stuff definitely doesn't work.

Indorex works for the house but you need a lot, like one can a room which is a lot more than the label says.

You can use table salt to kill fleas but not on the cat itself. Brush it up before you use the vacuum cleaner.

Advantage appears to be working for my dcat, it's all I've used for the over 3 years she's been here, and worked for my previous cat for many years too.

Clarich007 · 08/02/2024 21:05

Bravecto always works on my cat.
He's a wanderer, and goes missing for days.

Paw2024 · 08/02/2024 21:06

Bravecto and advantage have always worked well when I've used them

lifeispainauchocolat · 08/02/2024 21:55

Advantage works well - it has the same active ingredient as Advocate.

Prescription from the vet. Nothing else works
